“Solo” means: Pepijn—all by himself. Pepijn Ronaldo comes from the seventh generation of a circus family and ventures into the unknown in his solo debut. From the music and lighting to the set design and dramaturgy, he handles everything himself.
A young man stands on stage. It’s like an audition, with the audience serving as the jury. A moment in which he gives it his all, hoping to win them over. Little by little, he draws us into his world, giving us a glimpse of his thoughts, dreams, and ambitions.
“Solo” is a balancing act between one’s own dreams and the expectations of others. In dialogue with the audience, Pepijn searches for what is “good enough” in his big moment. When is the right time to go your own way, venture into the unknown, and follow your own curiosity?
